Binfer Diagnostics
The Binfer system has several different diagnostic tests that help users know what’s going on with their Binfer system. These tests are required to run once on first login to the system so that system admin have an immediate understanding of what state their system is in and if it is ready to begin moving your data.
Each test is explained in detail below with explanations of what a failure of the test mean.
Reachable from external network?
This test checks if your Binfer instance is reachable through your firewalls from an external network. This functionality is critical to connect service clients to a server instance for use with the Sync and Transfer modules.
IF YOU HAVE FAILED THIS TEST: A failure of this test means that your service is not reachable through the firewall. Possible firewall issues can occur at the machine level with a machine firewall (such as windows defender) or at the network level with a network firewall (common in enterprise cases).
Please contact your network admin to help get the firewalls configured to allow traffic to your Binfer instance at the port you installed Binfer on.
Can authenticate?
This test checks that Binfer can reach https://www.binfer.com and authenticate the Binfer instance.
IF YOU HAVE FAILED THIS TEST: A failure of this test means that your service can not send a request to Binfer’s authentication server. Please ensure that you have whitelisted the Binfer domain as show below.
*.binfer.com
Is licensing valid?
This test checks that the licensing information Binfer has is correct and valid.
IF YOU HAVE FAILED THIS TEST: Please first confirm that you can authenticate with the test above. This test will always fail when you cannot authenticate. If you can authenticate but still continue to fail this test please contact your Binfer rep.
Has write permissions?
This test checks that Binfer has write access in the default download directory.
IF YOU HAVE FAILED THIS TEST: You will need to review your permissions on the directory set as Binfer’s default data directory. If these permissions cannot be changed, you can change the default download location of Binfer in the download settings. You can access these settings through the left hand navigation selecting SETTINGS > DOWNLOAD.
Can send a file? / Can receive a file?
This test checks that binfer can send or receive a file through the firewall.
IF YOU HAVE FAILED THIS TEST: Please ensure that you have passed the ‘Reachable from an external network?’ test. This test will always fail if that one fails. If that test is passing but this fails please review your network configuration to ensure there is no limit on connection length or packet size.
